Russia’s Trade with the Dominican Republic

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with the Dominican Republic totaled $46,592,484, up 158.68% ($28,581,066) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to the Dominican Republic in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $40,635,935, up 175.12% ($25,865,632) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from the Dominican Republic in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $5,956,549, up 83.78% ($2,715,434) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with the Dominican Republic in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $34,679,386, a 200.80% increase ($23,150,198) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 98th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 116th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0296% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0140% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 87th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 105th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0394% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0177% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 100th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 109th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0109% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0072% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The major share of Russian exports to the Dominican Republic in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 83.20% of Russia’s total exports to the Dominican Republic (2.55% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.83% of Russia’s total exports to the Dominican Republic (22.91% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.94% of Russia’s total exports to the Dominican Republic (68.33% in the 1st quarter of 2017);

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $1,017,296;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $357,443;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $322,127.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Dominican Republic in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $8,904,403;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $396,475.

Russia’s Imports from the Dominican Republic
