Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with the Philippines totaled $164,257,921, up 71.69% ($68,588,767) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $75,908,374, up 293.01% ($56,593,581) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $88,349,547, up 15.71% ($11,995,186) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $12,441,173, a 78.19% decrease ($44,598,395) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

The Philippines was Russia’s 74th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 81st in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1042% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0744% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The Philippines was Russia’s 75th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 98th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0737% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0232% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The Philippines was Russia’s 60th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 61st in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1618% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1689% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 39.64% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (5.92% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 30.47% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (26.39% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 13.45% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (34.48% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 13.02% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (26.96% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.25% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (4.46% in the 1st quarter of 2017);

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $18,594,088;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $4,661,750;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $3,678,940;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $1,367,644;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $829,158;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $452,067.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

Russia’s Imports from the Philippines

The major share of Russian imports from the Philippines in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 81.72% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (80.50% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.95% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (10.69% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.33% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (3.25% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
