Russia’s Trade with Tunisia

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Tunisia totaled $161,348,866, up 1.48% ($2,360,526) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $119,605,282, down 1.39% ($1,685,116) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $41,743,584, up 10.73% ($4,045,642) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $77,861,698, a 6.86% decrease ($5,730,758) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Tunisia was Russia’s 75th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 70th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1024% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1237% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Tunisia was Russia’s 68th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 63rd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1161% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1455% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Tunisia was Russia’s 74th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 72nd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0764% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0834% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Tunisia

The major share of Russian exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 56.37% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (68.84% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 16.15% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (16.08% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.76% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (0.99% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.48% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (12.12% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.13% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (1.93% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $13,485,978;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,536,141;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $622,184;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $485,642.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $12,923,181;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $3,144,473;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $899,983;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $613,152;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $432,222.

Russia’s Imports from Tunisia

The major share of Russian imports from Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 58.20% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (64.09% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 18.63% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (14.55% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 15.31% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (14.09% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.43% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (4.93% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $1,043,838;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, knitted or crocheted (HS code 61) - an increase of $707,679;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $465,264;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $231,718;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $217,276.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $340,933;
