Russia’s Trade with Uruguay

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Uruguay totaled $39,219,644, up 23.63% ($7,496,753) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $2,609,317, down 37.52% ($1,567,118) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $36,610,327, up 32.90% ($9,063,871) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $34,001,010, a 45.49% increase ($10,630,989) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Uruguay was Russia’s 102nd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 107th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0249% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0247% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Uruguay was Russia’s 137th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 123rd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0025% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0050% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Uruguay was Russia’s 78th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0670% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0609% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Uruguay

The major share of Russian exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 53.04% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (40.81% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 36.21% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (48.51% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 7.00% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (1.58% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.54% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (2.85% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.45% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (0.21% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.01% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (5.43% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $627,672;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $94,909;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $40,759;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $28,991;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $23,258.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $884,961;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $588,575;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $492,513;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $225,976;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $102,121;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $55,352;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $19,116;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $8,812.

Russia’s Imports from Uruguay

The major share of Russian imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 94.57% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (93.91% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.23% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (4.22% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 0.07% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (1.85% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $12,087,593;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $921,987;
  • Products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 05) - an increase of $265,935;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $187,729.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Dairy produce; birds eggs; natural honey; edible products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 04) - a decrease of $3,374,119;
  • Wool, fine or coarse animal hair; horsehair yarn and woven fabric (HS code 51) - a decrease of $484,309;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $406,051;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $133,657.
