Russia’s Trade with Zimbabwe

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Zimbabwe was $11,616,743, down 8.53% ($1,083,910) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $3,690, down 97.30% ($132,985) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $11,613,053, down 7.57% ($950,925) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Zimbabwe in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $11,609,363, a 6.58% decrease ($817,940) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Zimbabwe was Russia’s 93rd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 90th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0213% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0278% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The major share of Russian exports to Zimbabwe in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 100.00% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (1.93% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.00% of Russia’s total exports to Zimbabwe (98.07% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Zimbabwe in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

Russia’s Imports from Zimbabwe

The major share of Russian imports from Zimbabwe in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.85% of Russia’s total imports from Zimbabwe (100.00% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Zimbabwe in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $443,333;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $100,000.
