Russia’s Trade with Algeria

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Algeria was $547,630,813, down 34.73% ($291,450,175) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $543,314,956, down 35.04% ($293,028,187) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $4,315,857, up 57.64% ($1,578,012) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $538,999,099, a 35.34% decrease ($294,606,199) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Algeria was Russia’s 46th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 34th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.3204% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.6004% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Algeria was Russia’s 40th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 24th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4930% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.9960% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Algeria was Russia’s 111th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 113th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0071% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0049% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Algeria

The major share of Russian exports to Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 20.51% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (13.56% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.32% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (30.04% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.05% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (6.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 6.57% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (4.39% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $9,532,018;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $4,078,156;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $2,892,938;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,925,013.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $104,420,395;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $79,061,786;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $14,640,962;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $3,320,807.
