Russia’s Trade with Chile

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Chile totaled $334,983,657, up 35.81% ($88,335,672) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $21,955,536, up 17.98% ($3,345,754) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $313,028,121, up 37.27% ($84,989,918) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $291,072,585, a 38.98% increase ($81,644,164) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Chile was Russia’s 60th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 64th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1960% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1765% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Chile was Russia’s 104th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 100th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0199% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0222% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Chile was Russia’s 34th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 44th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.5156% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4088% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 38.00% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (30.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 33.05% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (40.43% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 17.40% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (17.04% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.95% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (4.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.89% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (2.05% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.39% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (1.50% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.00% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (1.10% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $2,667,900;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,386,726;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $1,040,314;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $789,622;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $168,354;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $100,890;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - an increase of $67,568.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $1,129,002;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $737,652;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - a decrease of $272,415;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $268,622;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $164,746;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $77,367;
  • Ceramic products (HS code 69) - a decrease of $68,182;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $67,093.

Russia’s Imports from Chile

The major share of Russian imports from Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 79.11% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (71.09% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 16.16% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (23.01% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.29% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (5.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Chile in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:
