Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Cyprus was $88,646,329, down 17.94% ($19,385,775) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $86,564,158, down 19.08% ($20,406,848) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $2,082,171, up 96.23% ($1,021,073) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $84,481,987, a 20.23% decrease ($21,427,921) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Cyprus was Russia’s 85th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 81st in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0519% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0773% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Cyprus was Russia’s 75th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 69th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0785% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1274% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Cyprus was Russia’s 122nd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 127th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0034% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0019% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 36.99% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (0.41% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 30.52% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (74.01% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 14.25% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (4.32% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 8.81% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (3.84% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.19% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (1.93% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.33% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (1.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $31,224,736;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $4,366,338;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $4,110,706;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $3,607,622;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $1,570,059;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $544,559;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $269,361.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $52,798,913;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $628,186;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $414,679;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $343,371;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $275,019.

Russia’s Imports from Cyprus

The major share of Russian imports from Cyprus in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 70.17% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (54.04% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.37% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (0.03% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.27% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (23.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.23% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (6.89% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
