Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Indonesia was $586,907,000, down 4.85% ($29,938,713) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $195,961,008, up 21.53% ($34,719,290) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $390,945,992, down 14.19% ($64,658,003) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $194,984,984, a 33.76% decrease ($99,377,293) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Indonesia was Russia’s 43rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 42nd in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.3434% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.4414% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Indonesia was Russia’s 61st largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 57th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1778% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1920% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Indonesia was Russia’s 30th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 28th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.6440% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.8167% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 31.70% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (29.77% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 28.85% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (0.45% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 16.73% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (14.98% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 16.37% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (42.48% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.66% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (6.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);

  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $2,275,249;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $1,382,565;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $832,174;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $709,434;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $694,831.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $35,041,637;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $6,301,029;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $1,280,982;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $601,438.

Russia’s Imports from Indonesia

The major share of Russian imports from Indonesia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 21.22% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (12.27% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 11.20% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (27.59% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 10.61% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (9.62% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
