In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Iraq totaled $575,492,264, up 382.08% ($456,116,331) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Iraq in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $575,488,547, up 382.10% ($456,117,806) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Iraq in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $3,717, down 28.41% ($1,475) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Iraq in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $575,484,830, a 382.12% increase ($456,119,281) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Iraq was Russia’s 44th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 77th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.3367% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0854% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Iraq was Russia’s 38th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 66th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.5222% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1422% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Iraq was Russia’s 175th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 177th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0000% of Russia’s total imports (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Iraq

The major share of Russian exports to Iraq in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 90.51% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (9.44% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 5.09% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (50.20% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.58% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (8.57% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.97% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (13.96% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.43% of Russia’s total exports to Iraq (2.80% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $512,635,034;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $4,220,082;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $3,525,705.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Iraq in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $30,949,591;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $9,365,651;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $3,451,170;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $3,111,419;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $2,349,260.
