Russia’s Trade with Italy

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Italy totaled $6,659,119,329, up 8.44% ($518,191,065) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $4,096,623,516, up 10.94% ($403,974,275) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $2,562,495,813, up 4.67% ($114,216,790) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $1,534,127,703, a 23.29% increase ($289,757,485) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Italy was Russia’s 6th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 5th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 3.8962% of Russia’s total trade (down from 4.3940% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Italy was Russia’s 7th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 6th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 3.7173% of Russia’s total exports (down from 4.3974% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Italy was Russia’s 6th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 4.2210% of Russia’s total imports (down from 4.3888% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Italy

The major share of Russian exports to Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 82.55% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (86.19% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.18% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (4.79% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 2.44% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (4.15% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
