Russia’s Trade with Jordan

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Jordan totaled $51,903,540, up 56.51% ($18,740,313) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $47,199,492, up 85.92% ($21,812,939) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $4,704,048, down 39.51% ($3,072,626) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $42,495,444, a 141.32% increase ($24,885,565) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Jordan was Russia’s 101st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 109th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0304% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0237% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Jordan was Russia’s 89th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 97th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0428% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0302% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Jordan was Russia’s 108th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 95th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0077% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0139% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Jordan

The major share of Russian exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 55.80% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (75.08% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 31.21% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (4.17% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.02% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (8.17% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.98% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (9.63% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.69% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (1.89% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.06% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (0.90% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $8,197,151;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $5,668,382;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - an increase of $5,116,386;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $738,828;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $735,776;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $539,016;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $440,466;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $417,964;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $326,576;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $318,759;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $269,453;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - an increase of $162,262.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $683,712;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $483,695;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $243,063.

Russia’s Imports from Jordan

The major share of Russian imports from Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 67.01% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (71.83% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 24.54% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (12.06% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.56% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (15.38% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $14,643.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $2,297,306;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $471,751;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $441,061;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $320,219;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $63,000;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - a decrease of $37,572.
