Russia’s Trade with Kuwait

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Kuwait was $52,446,977, down 66.74% ($105,221,305) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $52,441,855, down 66.74% ($105,206,927) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $5,122, down 73.73% ($14,378) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $52,436,733, a 66.73% decrease ($105,192,549) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Kuwait was Russia’s 100th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 70th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0307% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1128% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Kuwait was Russia’s 86th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 58th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0476% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1877% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Kuwait was Russia’s 171st largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 167th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0000% of Russia’s total imports (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Kuwait

The major share of Russian exports to Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 82.06% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (97.39% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.26% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (0.04% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.92% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (0.73% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.65% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (0.37% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.95% of Russia’s total exports to Kuwait (1.46% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $5,370,576;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $1,144,746;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $586,424.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $110,379,880;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $669,421;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $608,221;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $491,856;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $199,659;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $190,681.

Russia’s Imports from Kuwait

The major share of Russian imports from Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.75% of Russia’s total imports from Kuwait (97.56% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.51% of Russia’s total imports from Kuwait (2.31% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.25% of Russia’s total imports from Kuwait (0.13% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Kuwait in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $4,604;

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $95;
