Russia’s Trade with Macedonia

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Macedonia was $30,045,979, down 0.25% ($76,218) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $11,074,682, up 95.69% ($5,415,282) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $18,971,297, down 22.45% ($5,491,500) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $7,896,615, a 58.00% decrease ($10,906,782) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Macedonia was Russia’s 116th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 111th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0176% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0216% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Macedonia was Russia’s 116th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 124th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0100% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0067% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Macedonia was Russia’s 87th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 83rd in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0313% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0439% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Macedonia

The major share of Russian exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 79.08% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (55.66% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 10.50% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (3.02% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.46% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (7.56% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.95% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (24.90% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.50% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (6.25% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $992,134;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $186,295;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $51,264.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,192,987;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $116,406;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $60,034;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $47,315;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $35,871;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $35,437.

Russia’s Imports from Macedonia

The major share of Russian imports from Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 59.57% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (75.68% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 14.19% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (9.28% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 13.11% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (1.82% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.27% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (11.59% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).
