Russia’s Trade with Morocco

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Morocco totaled $295,594,462, up 8.72% ($23,703,420) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $186,863,459, up 3.14% ($5,682,709) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $108,731,003, up 19.87% ($18,020,711) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $78,132,456, a 13.64% decrease ($12,338,002) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Morocco was Russia’s 66th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 61st in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1730% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1945% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Morocco was Russia’s 63rd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 53rd in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1696% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2158% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Morocco was Russia’s 59th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 61st in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1791% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1626% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Morocco

The major share of Russian exports to Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 49.46% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (74.18% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 38.42% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (10.02% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.92% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (9.07% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.03% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (6.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $1,920,533;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $937,874;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $641,926.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $36,120,655;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $14,567,798;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $7,652,949;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $5,855,364.
