Russia’s Trade with Puerto Rico

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Puerto Rico totaled $50,839,391, up 7.41% ($3,505,161) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Puerto Rico in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $1,620,834, down 6.38% ($110,379) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Puerto Rico in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $49,218,557, up 7.93% ($3,615,540) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Puerto Rico in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $47,597,723, a 8.49% increase ($3,725,919) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Puerto Rico was Russia’s 103rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 99th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0297% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0339% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Puerto Rico was Russia’s 150th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 149th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0015% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0021% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Puerto Rico was Russia’s 71st largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0811% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0817% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - an increase of $57,013;

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $7,486.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Puerto Rico in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $852,359;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $13,150;
  • Prepared feathers and down and articles made of feathers or of down; artificial flowers; articles of human hair (HS code 67) - a decrease of $12,270.

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 99.18% of Russia’s total imports from Puerto Rico (99.13% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Puerto Rico in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $3,533,930;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $264,477.
