Russia’s Trade with South Korea

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with South Korea totaled $6,369,224,830, up 17.05% ($927,650,013) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $4,598,261,715, up 41.75% ($1,354,437,911) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $1,770,963,115, down 19.42% ($426,787,898) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $2,827,298,600, a 170.28% increase ($1,781,225,809) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

South Korea was Russia’s 7th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 3.7266% of Russia’s total trade (down from 3.8936% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

South Korea was Russia’s 6th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 7th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 4.1725% of Russia’s total exports (up from 3.8630% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

South Korea was Russia’s 8th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 7th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 2.9172% of Russia’s total imports (down from 3.9397% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to South Korea

The major share of Russian exports to South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 81.71% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (75.33% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.44% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (11.90% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.52% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (6.28% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
