Russia’s Trade with Sudan

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Sudan totaled $165,989,402, up 36.95% ($44,789,363) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Sudan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $165,961,686, up 37.43% ($45,202,867) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Sudan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $27,716, down 93.72% ($413,504) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Sudan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $165,933,970, a 37.91% increase ($45,616,371) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Sudan was Russia’s 79th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 76th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0971% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0867% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Sudan was Russia’s 67th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 65th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1506% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1438% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Sudan was Russia’s 157th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 138th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0000% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0008% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Sudan

The major share of Russian exports to Sudan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 92.34% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (61.61% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.03% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (1.07% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.38% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (0.53% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.19% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (1.10% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $5,239,221;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $1,637,908;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $1,388,017;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,165,999.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Sudan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $8,440,202;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $924,764;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $765,466.
