Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Switzerland totaled $1,899,068,250, up 81.61% ($853,368,073) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $1,198,771,753, up 116.43% ($644,897,334) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $700,296,497, up 42.39% ($208,470,739) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $498,475,256, a 703.36% increase ($436,426,595) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Switzerland was Russia’s 19th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 28th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.1111% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.7482% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Switzerland was Russia’s 22nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 32nd in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.0878% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.6596% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Switzerland was Russia’s 20th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 25th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.1535% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.8816% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Switzerland

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 59.65% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (51.54% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 25.43% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (20.20% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 11.00% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (21.80% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.03% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (2.58% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
