The Report on Russia’s foreign trade in goods with Taiwan in the second quarter of 2018: exports, imports, products, dynamics.
Russia’s Trade with Taiwan
In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Taiwan totaled $1,777,378,431, up 31.97% ($430,585,955) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.
Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $1,235,597,798, up 42.09% ($365,983,616) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.
Russia’s imports from Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $541,780,633, up 13.54% ($64,602,339) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.
Russia’s trade surplus with Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $693,817,165, a 76.80% increase ($301,381,277) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.
Taiwan was Russia’s 20th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 21st in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.0399% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.9637% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).
Taiwan was Russia’s 21st largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 22nd in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.1212% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.0356% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).
Taiwan was Russia’s 26th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 27th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.8924% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.8554% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).
Russia’s Exports to Taiwan
The major share of Russian exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 50.12% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (53.58% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 44.66% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (41.30% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.71% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (2.89% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).
The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $207,064,316;
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $153,330,889;
- Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $20,020,729.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

Russia’s Imports from Taiwan
The major share of Russian imports from Taiwan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 72.66% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (69.11% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 13.98% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (16.09% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.76% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (9.06% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
- Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.67% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (1.55% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).
