Russia’s Trade with Tajikistan

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Tajikistan totaled $269,281,606, up 37.56% ($73,525,048) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $261,169,998, up 34.81% ($67,435,561) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $8,111,608, up 301.14% ($6,089,487) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $253,058,390, a 32.00% increase ($61,346,074) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Tajikistan was Russia’s 71st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 68th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1576% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1401% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 53rd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 51st in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2370% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2307% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 99th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 119th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0134% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0036% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Tajikistan

The major share of Russian exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 14.53% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (22.60% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.66% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (9.28% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $1,264,612;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $1,063,085;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $903,949;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $861,245;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $817,842.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $8,621,752;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - a decrease of $2,767,080;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $1,658,150.
