Russia’s Trade with the Czech Republic

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with the Czech Republic totaled $2,224,493,406, up 18.89% ($353,494,042) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to the Czech Republic in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $1,269,503,539, up 21.52% ($224,785,793) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from the Czech Republic in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $954,989,867, up 15.58% ($128,708,249) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with the Czech Republic in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $314,513,672, a 43.98% increase ($96,077,544) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

The Czech Republic was Russia’s 18th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.3015% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.3387% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The Czech Republic was Russia’s 20th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.1520% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.2441% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The Czech Republic was Russia’s 15th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.5731% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.4812% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to the Czech Republic

The major share of Russian exports to the Czech Republic in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 67.23% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (60.89% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 12.17% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (15.04% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.17% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (6.30% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 7.87% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (8.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.15% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (1.13% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $44,746,703;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $39,262,390;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $9,834,762.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Czech Republic in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $51,356,970;
  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $33,823,928;
  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - a decrease of $13,630,679.
