Russia’s Trade with Tunisia

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Tunisia totaled $224,952,329, up 128.21% ($126,380,099) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $192,666,662, up 176.91% ($123,089,661) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $32,285,667, up 11.35% ($3,290,438) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $160,380,995, a 295.20% increase ($119,799,223) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Tunisia was Russia’s 75th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 85th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1316% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0705% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Tunisia was Russia’s 62nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 79th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1748% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0829% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Tunisia was Russia’s 81st largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0532% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0520% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Tunisia

The major share of Russian exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 61.92% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (37.27% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.95% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (23.56% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.01% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (1.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.64% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (35.79% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.09% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (0.66% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $95,685,435;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $22,538,853;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $12,201,645;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $6,856,461;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $3,706,057.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $15,198,504;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $2,306,061;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $829,183.

Russia’s Imports from Tunisia

The major share of Russian imports from Tunisia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 51.11% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (48.08% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 19.67% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (22.49% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 19.11% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (21.19% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.45% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (2.44% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.21% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (3.12% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).
