Russia’s Trade with Venezuela

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Venezuela totaled $32,514,132, up 1,047.70% ($29,681,161) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $32,241,827, up 1,080.18% ($29,509,882) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $272,305, up 169.54% ($171,279) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $31,969,522, a 1,115.15% increase ($29,338,603) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Venezuela was Russia’s 111th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 154th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0190% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0020% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Venezuela was Russia’s 97th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 138th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0293% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0033% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Venezuela was Russia’s 142nd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 150th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0004% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0002% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Venezuela

The major share of Russian exports to Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 87.62% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (0.71% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.51% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (5.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.61% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (87.26% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.30% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (0.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.90% of Russia’s total exports to Venezuela (4.75% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $28,250,481;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $1,972,384;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $418,730;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $158,650.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,122,063;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $189,341.

Russia’s Imports from Venezuela

The major share of Russian imports from Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 85.10% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (92.85% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.97% of Russia’s total imports from Venezuela (7.15% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $122,182;
  • Raw hides and skins (other than furskins) and leather (HS code 41) - an increase of $35,950;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $16,661;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $1,290.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Venezuela in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $2,268;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,874;
  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $904.
