Russia’s Trade with Algeria

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Algeria was $1,056,199,269, down 29.96% ($451,763,019) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $1,055,381,704, down 29.97% ($451,622,871) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Algeria in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $817,565, down 14.63% ($140,148) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Algeria in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $1,054,564,139, a 29.98% decrease ($451,482,723) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Algeria was Russia’s 35th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 21st in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.6138% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.0315% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Algeria was Russia’s 27th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 18th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.9407% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.7655% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Algeria was Russia’s 130th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 128th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0014% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0016% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Algeria

The major share of Russian exports to Algeria in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 60.34% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (17.99% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.65% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (0.57% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.10% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (6.89% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.95% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (4.32% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $40,504,012;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $5,376,188.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $67,609,928;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $63,349,077;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $49,249,575;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $46,627,425;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $33,844,254.

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 27.19% of Russia’s total imports from Algeria (0.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.00% of Russia’s total imports from Algeria (6.65% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).
