Russia’s Trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina was $43,497,710, down 2.33% ($1,039,194) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $16,937,994, up 13.73% ($2,044,556) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $26,559,716, down 10.40% ($3,083,750) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $9,621,722, a 34.77% decrease ($5,128,306) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 107th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 103rd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0253% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0305% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 110th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 107th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0151% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0174% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 84th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 82nd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0444% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0487% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The major share of Russian exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 32.76% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (26.80% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 29.44% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (19.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.23% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (32.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 15.44% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (10.74% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.65% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (3.43% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.56% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (0.96% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $2,156,060;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,621,491;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $772,347;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $290,975;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $234,606;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $168,208;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $134,799;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $70,627.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $2,247,199;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $192,864;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $138,642;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $70,656;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $64,923.

Russia’s Imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The major share of Russian imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 20.59% of Russia’s total imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina (21.96% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 13.04% of Russia’s total imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina (17.28% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
