Russia’s Trade with Colombia

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Colombia was $132,849,173, down 45.15% ($109,353,615) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $93,807,637, down 55.47% ($116,861,253) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $39,041,536, up 23.81% ($7,507,638) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $54,766,101, a 69.43% decrease ($124,368,891) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Colombia was Russia’s 80th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 65th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0772% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1657% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Colombia was Russia’s 78th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 54th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0836% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2468% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Colombia was Russia’s 78th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 79th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0652% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0518% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Colombia

The major share of Russian exports to Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 50.15% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (83.65% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 24.71% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (11.63% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 13.44% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (2.22% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.73% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (1.72% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.35% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (0.42% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $8,157,572;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $1,555,522;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $1,333,809;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $1,062,526;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $961,324;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $582,327;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - an increase of $506,910;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $503,777;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $338,853.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $129,172,079;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,875,902;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $1,186,294.

Russia’s Imports from Colombia

The major share of Russian imports from Colombia in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 84.03% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (91.46% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 8.76% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (3.59% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.69% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (2.12% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 2.62% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (0.45% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

  • Live trees and other plants; bulbs, roots and the like; cut flowers and ornamental foliage (HS code 06) - a decrease of $1,160,405;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $803,776;
  • Albuminoidal substances; modified starches; glues; enzymes (HS code 35) - a decrease of $474,535.
