Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Cyprus totaled $218,049,139, up 285.72% ($161,518,922) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $216,139,806, up 295.54% ($161,495,253) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $1,909,333, up 1.26% ($23,669) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $214,230,473, a 306.06% increase ($161,471,584) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Cyprus was Russia’s 73rd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 99th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1267% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0387% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Cyprus was Russia’s 56th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 86th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1926% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0640% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Cyprus was Russia’s 119th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 122nd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0032% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0031% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 75.68% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (74.43% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 13.57% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (5.44% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 4.29% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (4.53% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.81% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (6.45% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.38% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (5.09% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.69% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (2.52% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $122,462,523;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $26,264,320;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $5,897,669;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $4,273,279;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $1,036,550.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

Russia’s Imports from Cyprus

The major share of Russian imports from Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 76.81% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (72.36% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.96% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (13.57% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 7.36% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (6.53% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 3.53% of Russia’s total imports from Cyprus (3.80% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $62,890;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $52,438;
  • Furskins and artificial fur; manufactures thereof (HS code 43) - an increase of $22,853;
  • Preparations of vegetables, fruit, nuts or other parts of plants (HS code 20) - an increase of $13,506;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $5,859.

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $97,948;
  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - a decrease of $72,557;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $69,715;
  • Toys, games and sports requisites; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 95) - a decrease of $41,242;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $39,532;
