Russia’s Trade with Greece

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Greece totaled $1,136,362,545, up 26.70% ($239,450,877) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $1,061,862,230, up 28.17% ($233,395,938) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $74,500,315, up 8.85% ($6,054,939) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $987,361,915, a 29.91% increase ($227,340,999) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Greece was Russia’s 30th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 35th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.6604% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.6135% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Greece was Russia’s 26th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 24th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.9464% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.9706% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Greece was Russia’s 61st largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 62nd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1244% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1125% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Greece

The major share of Russian exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 91.32% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (78.68% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.83% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (19.35% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.46% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (0.60% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $317,645,262;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $19,797,280;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $4,194,912.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $73,764,720;
