Russia’s Trade with Guatemala

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Guatemala totaled $25,612,864, up 46.76% ($8,161,045) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $20,522,425, up 64.86% ($8,073,682) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $5,090,439, up 1.75% ($87,363) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $15,431,986, a 107.26% increase ($7,986,319) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Guatemala was Russia’s 120th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 123rd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0149% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0119% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Guatemala was Russia’s 106th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 114th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0183% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0146% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Guatemala was Russia’s 105th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 107th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0085% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0082% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Guatemala

The major share of Russian exports to Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 88.41% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (46.03% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.96% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (8.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.82% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (2.60% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.26% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (42.26% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.44% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (0.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $12,401,585;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $461,647;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $233,347;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $149,429;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $109,958.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $5,031,400;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $175,840.

The major share of Russian imports from Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.55% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (99.12% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $1,070,745;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - an increase of $194,569;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - an increase of $135,573;
  • Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $82,771;

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $960,711;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $416,470;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $17,565;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, knitted or crocheted (HS code 61) - a decrease of $16,663.
