Russia’s Trade with Hungary

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Hungary totaled $1,930,816,699, up 39.61% ($547,841,506) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $1,460,689,957, up 66.75% ($584,691,869) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $470,126,742, down 7.27% ($36,850,363) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $990,563,215, a 168.43% increase ($621,542,232) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Hungary was Russia’s 20th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 23rd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.1221% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.9460% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Hungary was Russia’s 19th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 23rd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.3019% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.0262% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Hungary was Russia’s 29th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 28th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.7852% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.8335% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Hungary

The major share of Russian exports to Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 92.23% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (83.16% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.52% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (9.29% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.15% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (0.65% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.43% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (5.77% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $10,886,538;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Hungary in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $42,609,771;

Russia’s Imports from Hungary
