Russia’s Trade with Lebanon

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Lebanon totaled $164,779,055, up 19.38% ($26,755,220) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $161,661,412, up 19.28% ($26,133,839) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $3,117,643, up 24.89% ($621,381) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $158,543,769, a 19.18% increase ($25,512,458) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Lebanon was Russia’s 79th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 76th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0958% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0944% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Lebanon was Russia’s 70th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 63rd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1441% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1588% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Lebanon was Russia’s 110th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 116th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0052% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0041% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Lebanon

The major share of Russian exports to Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 53.61% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (64.18% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 34.58% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (26.85% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.43% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (1.49% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.25% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (2.70% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.00% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (4.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $20,444,425;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $5,029,595;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $4,215,463;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $636,713;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $622,533.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $1,781,418;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $985,360;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $937,736.
