Russia’s Trade with Luxembourg

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Luxembourg totaled $63,420,404, up 10.45% ($5,999,309) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $12,587,591, down 4.76% ($629,078) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $50,832,813, up 14.99% ($6,628,387) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $38,245,222, a 23.42% increase ($7,257,465) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Luxembourg was Russia’s 96th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0369% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0393% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 116th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 111th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0112% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0155% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 70th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 72nd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0849% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0727% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Luxembourg

The major share of Russian exports to Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 71.36% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (80.82% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 19.16% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (13.40% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.07% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (2.65% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.95% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (2.70% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.94% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (0.43% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $562,159;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $187,666;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $178,497;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $132,808;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $68,466;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $63,642.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,699,175;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $54,170;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $52,728.

Russia’s Imports from Luxembourg

The major share of Russian imports from Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 42.25% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (36.46% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 21.48% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (23.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 16.03% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (14.91% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $802,671;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $384,942;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $354,864;

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Luxembourg in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $393,986;
  • Wadding, felt and nonwovens; special yarns, twine, cordage, ropes and cables and articles thereof (HS code 56) - a decrease of $344,133;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - a decrease of $254,365;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $224,106;
