Russia’s Trade with Morocco

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Morocco was $232,593,095, down 8.03% ($20,296,985) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $174,384,857, down 6.52% ($12,156,943) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $58,208,238, down 12.27% ($8,140,042) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $116,176,619, a 3.34% decrease ($4,016,901) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Morocco was Russia’s 70th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 64th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1352% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1730% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Morocco was Russia’s 67th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 58th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1554% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2185% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Morocco was Russia’s 67th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 63rd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0972% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1091% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Morocco

The major share of Russian exports to Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 72.15% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (84.29% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 20.72% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (1.79% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.04% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (0.73% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.16% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (2.74% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.57% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (0.11% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $4,712,400;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $2,403,084;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $1,183,035;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $875,248;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $560,016.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $21,323,055;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $10,096,184;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,513,026;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $680,269.

Russia’s Imports from Morocco

The major share of Russian imports from Morocco in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 64.63% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (57.06% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 13.88% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (20.97% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 7.14% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (3.96% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
