Russia’s Trade with Saudi Arabia
In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Saudi Arabia was $275,235,360, down 17.66% ($59,040,620) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.
Russia’s exports to Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $198,333,658, down 34.75% ($105,638,491) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.
Russia’s imports from Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $76,901,702, up 153.77% ($46,597,871) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.
Russia’s trade surplus with Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $121,431,956, a 55.63% decrease ($152,236,362) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 67th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 57th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1600% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2287% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 61st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 46th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1768% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.3561% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 60th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 81st in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1284% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0498% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).
Russia’s Exports to Saudi Arabia
The major share of Russian exports to Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 82.00% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (48.09% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.76% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (0.99% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.20% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (1.39% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.88% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (3.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.38% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (45.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);

- Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $2,461,791;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,096,363;
- Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $984,038;
- Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $905,975;
- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $888,929;
- Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $883,600;
