Russia’s Trade with South Korea

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with South Korea totaled $7,106,546,053, up 35.14% ($1,847,830,737) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to South Korea in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $5,190,081,255, up 55.16% ($1,845,150,123) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from South Korea in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $1,916,464,798, up 0.14% ($2,680,614) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with South Korea in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $3,273,616,457, a 128.74% increase ($1,842,469,509) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

South Korea was Russia’s 5th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 8th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 4.1300% of Russia’s total trade (up from 3.5973% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

South Korea was Russia’s 5th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 6th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 4.6259% of Russia’s total exports (up from 3.9186% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

South Korea was Russia’s 8th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 3.2008% of Russia’s total imports (up from 3.1463% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to South Korea

The major share of Russian exports to South Korea in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 83.92% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (69.95% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.11% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (11.63% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.02% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (5.78% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
