Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Switzerland totaled $2,234,685,789, up 21.39% ($393,792,752) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $1,602,872,325, up 34.36% ($409,932,445) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $631,813,464, down 2.49% ($16,139,693) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $971,058,861, a 78.18% increase ($426,072,138) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Switzerland was Russia’s 18th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 19th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.2987% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.2593% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Switzerland was Russia’s 17th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 20th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.4286% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.3975% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Switzerland was Russia’s 20th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 22nd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.0552% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.0652% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Switzerland

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 25.32% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (25.85% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 9.12% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (41.52% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
