Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with the Philippines totaled $292,310,652, up 100.32% ($146,390,999) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $188,001,331, up 479.37% ($155,552,023) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $104,309,321, down 8.07% ($9,161,024) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade balance with the Philippines went from a deficit of $81,021,037 in the 3rd quarter of 2017, to a surplus of $83,692,010 in the 3rd quarter of 2018.

The Philippines was Russia’s 65th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 74th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1699% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0998% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The Philippines was Russia’s 63rd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 93rd in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1676% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0380% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The Philippines was Russia’s 56th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1742% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1865% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 47.99% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (59.37% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 27.69% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (0.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 17.18% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (14.51% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.09% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (18.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.14% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (1.05% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $1,692,910;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $946,190;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $856,478.

The major share of Russian imports from the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 82.11% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (80.80% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.30% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (10.96% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.51% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (3.44% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 2.44% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (2.60% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).
