Russia’s Trade with Uruguay

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Uruguay totaled $43,836,544, up 32.08% ($10,646,691) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $3,066,111, up 15.47% ($410,858) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $40,770,433, up 33.52% ($10,235,833) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $37,704,322, a 35.24% increase ($9,824,975) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Uruguay was Russia’s 106th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 108th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0255% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0227% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Uruguay was Russia’s 141st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 137th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0027% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0031% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Uruguay was Russia’s 77th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 80th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0681% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0502% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Uruguay

The major share of Russian exports to Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 45.38% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (81.66% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 35.62% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (4.96% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 13.53% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (0.37% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.34% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (9.08% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.00% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (2.15% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $847,304;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $730,565;
  • Wool, fine or coarse animal hair; horsehair yarn and woven fabric (HS code 51) - an increase of $405,657;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $229,830;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $19,000;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $10,845.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,619,090;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $63,034;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $46,101;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $34,848;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $34,240;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $22,834;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $11,171.

Russia’s Imports from Uruguay

The major share of Russian imports from Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 98.97% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (97.59% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.98% of Russia’s total imports from Uruguay (1.95% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - a decrease of $1,622,733;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - a decrease of $650,251;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $256,583;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $160,000;
  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $129,954.
