The Report on Russia’s foreign trade in goods with Bangladesh in the fourth quarter of 2018: exports, imports, products, dynamics.
Russia’s Trade with Bangladesh
In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Bangladesh totaled $510,906,068, up 3.91% ($19,203,398) from the 4th quarter of 2017.
Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $323,777,040, up 9.99% ($29,404,513) from the 4th quarter of 2017.
Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2018 were $187,129,028, down 5.17% ($10,201,115) from the 4th quarter of 2017.
Russia’s trade surplus with Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2018 was $136,648,012, a 40.81% increase ($39,605,628) over the 4th quarter of 2017.
Bangladesh was Russia’s 50th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 51st in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2735% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2942% in the 4th quarter of 2017).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 53rd largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 52nd in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2601% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2862% in the 4th quarter of 2017).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 46th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 45th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.3002% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3070% in the 4th quarter of 2017).
Russia’s Exports to Bangladesh
The major share of Russian exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 40.59% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (59.91% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 24.71% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (12.22% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 15.22% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (8.87% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.14% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (9.65% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.33% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (6.96% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.16% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (1.42% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

- Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $22,235,040;
- Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $18,207,889;
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $6,647,545;
- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $6,026,624;
- Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $4,639,017;
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $2,113,505;
- Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,058,927.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $40,919,973;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $17,286,500;
- Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $4,620,242;
- Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $1,065,358.
