Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Pakistan was $107,693,595, down 26.86% ($39,547,012) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2018 were $52,586,104, down 41.57% ($37,408,917) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2018 were $55,107,491, down 3.73% ($2,138,095) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade balance with Pakistan went from a surplus of $32,749,435 in the 4th quarter of 2017, to a deficit of $2,521,387 in the 4th quarter of 2018.

Pakistan was Russia’s 87th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 79th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0576% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0881% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Pakistan was Russia’s 73rd largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 70th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0884% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0891% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 31.60% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (17.26% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 23.03% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (7.77% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 21.11% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (55.30% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 18.76% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (11.42% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.37% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (5.22% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.84% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (2.93% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2018 over the 4th quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $39,425,280;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $2,961,103;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,818,432;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $851,535;

  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $357,475;
