Russia’s Trade with Argentina

In 2018, Russia’s trade with Argentina totaled $1,245,938,214, up 39.86% ($355,112,399) from 2017.

Russia’s exports to Argentina in 2018 totaled $394,669,103, up 86.70% ($183,279,730) from 2017.

Russia’s imports from Argentina in 2018 totaled $851,269,111, up 25.29% ($171,832,669) from 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Argentina in 2018 was $456,600,008, a 2.45% decrease ($11,447,061) over 2017.

Argentina was Russia’s 64th largest trading partner in 2018 (up from 67th in 2017), accounting for 0.1811% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1525% in 2017).

Argentina was Russia’s 78th largest export market in 2018 (up from 83rd in 2017), accounting for 0.0877% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0592% in 2017).

Argentina was Russia’s 43rd largest supplier in 2018 (up from 46th in 2017), accounting for 0.3574% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2994% in 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Argentina

The major share of Russian exports to Argentina in 2018 (and in 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 79.09% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (62.49% in 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 14.21% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (25.66% in 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.94% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (5.31% in 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.08% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (2.65% in 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.04% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (2.93% in 2017).

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $2,382,843;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,717,019.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Argentina in 2018 over 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $3,233,502;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,105,201;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $2,007,035.

Russia’s Imports from Argentina

The major share of Russian imports from Argentina in 2018 (and in 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.54% of Russia’s total imports from Argentina (12.01% in 2017);
