Russia’s Trade with Hungary

In 2018, Russia’s trade with Hungary totaled $6,964,476,855, up 29.61% ($1,591,093,840) from 2017.

Russia’s exports to Hungary in 2018 totaled $4,801,279,609, up 46.14% ($1,515,808,411) from 2017.

Russia’s imports from Hungary in 2018 totaled $2,163,197,246, up 3.61% ($75,285,429) from 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Hungary in 2018 was $2,638,082,363, a 120.29% increase ($1,440,522,982) over 2017.

Hungary was Russia’s 21st largest trading partner in 2018 (just as in 2017), accounting for 1.0121% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.9200% in 2017).

Hungary was Russia’s 21st largest export market in 2018 (up from 26th in 2017), accounting for 1.0670% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.9201% in 2017).

Hungary was Russia’s 26th largest supplier in 2018 (just as in 2017), accounting for 0.9083% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.9199% in 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Hungary

The major share of Russian exports to Hungary in 2018 (and in 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 86.98% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (82.59% in 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.11% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (10.27% in 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.20% of Russia’s total exports to Hungary (5.14% in 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Hungary in 2018 over 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $19,182,928;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Hungary in 2018 over 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - a decrease of $35,526,098;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $32,789,845;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $17,390,281;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $14,721,706.

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 28.94% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (33.46% in 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 12.05% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (12.42% in 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.06% of Russia’s total imports from Hungary (2.56% in 2017);
