Russia’s Trade with Abkhazia

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Abkhazia was $49,877,898, down 7.50% ($4,044,667) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Abkhazia in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $38,980,391, down 10.12% ($4,388,116) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Abkhazia in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $10,897,507, up 3.25% ($343,449) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Abkhazia in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $28,082,884, a 14.42% decrease ($4,731,565) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Abkhazia was Russia’s 97th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 93rd in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0317% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0342% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Abkhazia was Russia’s 89th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 85th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0373% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0421% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Abkhazia was Russia’s 92nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 94th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0205% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0193% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Abkhazia

The major share of Russian exports to Abkhazia in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $175,870;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $158,541;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $134,165.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Abkhazia in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
