Russia’s Trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina was $37,652,394, down 15.12% ($6,707,572) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $21,226,527, down 18.54% ($4,831,968) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $16,425,867, down 10.25% ($1,875,604) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $4,800,660, a 38.11% decrease ($2,956,364) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 104th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 100th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0239% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0281% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 101st largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 97th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0203% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0253% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 89th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 87th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0310% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0335% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The major share of Russian exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 74.61% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (64.11% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.38% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (14.43% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.64% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (9.98% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.15% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (6.14% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.70% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (0.88% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.11% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (0.74% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $112,891;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $72,271.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,749,588;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,041,162;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $849,178;
  • Raw hides and skins (other than furskins) and leather (HS code 41) - a decrease of $630,004;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $343,639;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $224,083;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $149,944;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $130,846.
