Russia’s Trade with Denmark

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Denmark was $1,180,555,460, down 7.35% ($93,604,401) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Denmark in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $943,039,744, down 10.35% ($108,853,348) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Denmark in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $237,515,716, up 6.86% ($15,248,947) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Denmark in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $705,524,028, a 14.96% decrease ($124,102,295) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Denmark was Russia’s 26th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 27th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.7499% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.8083% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Denmark was Russia’s 27th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 23rd in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.9034% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.0210% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Denmark was Russia’s 37th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 40th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.4478% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4070% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Denmark

The major share of Russian exports to Denmark in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 81.82% of Russia’s total exports to Denmark (84.84% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 11.02% of Russia’s total exports to Denmark (8.96% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.39% of Russia’s total exports to Denmark (2.55% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.28% of Russia’s total exports to Denmark (2.34% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.21% of Russia’s total exports to Denmark (1.06% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Denmark in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $11,066,788;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $5,355,051.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Denmark in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $120,896,642;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $3,017,967.
