Russia’s Trade with Greece

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Greece totaled $998,789,561, up 1.59% ($15,662,597) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $947,966,361, up 2.42% ($22,416,178) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Greece in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $50,823,200, down 11.73% ($6,753,581) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Greece in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $897,143,161, a 3.36% increase ($29,169,759) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Greece was Russia’s 33rd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 34th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.6345% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.6237% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Greece was Russia’s 26th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 27th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.9082% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.8984% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Greece was Russia’s 71st largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 69th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0958% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1054% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Greece

The major share of Russian exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 92.54% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (84.41% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.67% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (11.73% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.18% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (1.22% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.62% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (1.04% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $95,931,533;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $3,012,167.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $50,998,007;
  • Zinc and articles thereof (HS code 79) - a decrease of $12,754,616;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $4,826,054;
