Russia’s Trade with India

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with India was $2,199,657,057, down 3.78% ($86,431,989) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to India in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $1,376,982,598, down 10.41% ($160,029,070) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from India in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $822,674,459, up 9.83% ($73,597,081) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with India in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $554,308,139, a 29.65% decrease ($233,626,151) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

India was Russia’s 17th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.3973% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.4503% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

India was Russia’s 19th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 17th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.3192% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.4919% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

India was Russia’s 15th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 19th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 1.5509% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.3717% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to India

The major share of Russian exports to India in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 26.66% of Russia’s total exports to India (16.37% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 19.71% of Russia’s total exports to India (23.61% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.28% of Russia’s total exports to India (14.79% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 11.83% of Russia’s total exports to India (22.67% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 9.23% of Russia’s total exports to India (4.00% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
