Russia’s Trade with Luxembourg

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Luxembourg was $55,409,882, down 7.75% ($4,652,213) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2019 were $10,546,477, down 41.39% ($7,447,971) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $44,863,405, up 6.65% ($2,795,758) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $34,316,928, a 42.55% increase ($10,243,729) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Luxembourg was Russia’s 94th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 91st in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0352% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0381% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 116th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 107th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0101% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0175% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Luxembourg was Russia’s 74th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 73rd in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0846% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0770% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Luxembourg

The major share of Russian exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 65.54% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (77.18% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 18.14% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (14.02% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.98% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (3.01% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.00% of Russia’s total exports to Luxembourg (1.95% in the 1st quarter of 2018);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $308,540;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $157,975;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $92,000.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $6,976,752;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $527,608;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $422,778;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $50,471;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $45,960.

Russia’s Imports from Luxembourg

The major share of Russian imports from Luxembourg in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 31.34% of Russia’s total imports from Luxembourg (31.02% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
