Russia’s Trade with Mozambique

In the 1st quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Mozambique totaled $24,285,756, up 89.78% ($11,489,278) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $18,520,937, up 158.81% ($11,364,875) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2019 totaled $5,764,819, up 2.21% ($124,403) from the 1st quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2019 was $12,756,118, a 741.63% increase ($11,240,472) over the 1st quarter of 2018.

Mozambique was Russia’s 114th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 128th in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0154% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0081% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Mozambique was Russia’s 106th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2019 (up from 122nd in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0177% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0069% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Mozambique was Russia’s 103rd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2019 (down from 102nd in the 1st quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0109% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0103% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Mozambique

The major share of Russian exports to Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 84.04% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (81.56% in the 1st quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.35% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (11.60% in the 1st quarter of 2018);

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $1,641,890;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $206,499;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $75,748.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $93,194.

Russia’s Imports from Mozambique

The major share of Russian imports from Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2019 (and in the 1st quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.11% of Russia’s total imports from Mozambique (100.00% in the 1st quarter of 2018).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 1st quarter of 2019 over the 1st quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $90,037;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $49,810.
